The 12th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention will be held from Sept. 24-26 in Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, according to the event's organizing committee.
At a press briefing on Thursday, it was revealed that more than 3,000 Chinese entrepreneurs from over 100 countries will participate in the event.
According to Ren Qiliang, office director of the organizing committee, this year's convention will run under a theme of China's development and the opportunities of Chinese merchants.
The event is jointly sponsored by the China Overseas Chinese Entrepreneurs Association and the Chengdu municipal government, with the support of the All-China Federation of Industry & Commerce, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of the State Council and the Sichuan provincial government.
Ren, also vice director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, said the convention will include a forum on China's economy and a series of special forums, economic and trade negotiations, product exhibitions and business visits.
The biennial convention, a key platform for exchanges between Chinese entrepreneurs across the world, was first initiated by the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry in 1991.
Previous events have been hosted in countries around the globe, including Singapore, Thailand, Canada, Australia and Japan. Nanjing was the last Chinese city to host the event, which it did in 2001.
