A total of 23 people were elected vice-chairpersons of the 12th National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) at a plenary meeting of its first session on Monday.
The following is a brief introduction to them:
Du Qinglin, born in November 1946, is a member of the 18th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China (CPC) and also a member of its Secretariat.
Du was vice-chairman of the 11th CPPCC National Committee, and member of the committee's Leading Party Members' Group. He was also head of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Central Committee from 2007 to 2012.
Du was a member of the 15th, 16th and 17th CPC Central Committees.
