China's top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng said on Wednesday members of the Standing Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) National Committee should work closely through innovation and honest cooperation to fulfil their duties.
Yu made the remarks at the first meeting of the Standing Committee of the 12th CPPCC National Committee.
Yu, the newly elected chairman of the 12th CPPCC National Committee, urged the standing committee and the country's political advisors to play a bigger role in completing the building of China into a relatively prosperous society in all respects.
Yu said the Standing Committee of the CPPCC National Committee should run itself with strict discipline, investigate thoroughly into issues of public concerns and put forward valuable suggestions surrounding the work of the government as well as of the Communist Party of China (CPC).
The CPPCC is a patriotic united front organization of the Chinese people, serving as a key mechanism for multi-party cooperation and political consultation under the leadership of the CPC.
