In north western China, a 13-year free education program that pays tuition, accommodation and food, now covers all the students from pre-school to high school in the Tibetan inhabited areas in Qinghai Province.
Under the policy, every student ranging from pre-school to the secondary vocational education stage can receive between 2,200 and 2,700 yuan for each school year.
They can also get 1,500 yuan per year as a living stipend. The program is being carried out in all six Tibetan Autonomous Prefectures in Qinghai Province.
