An explosion ripped through a residential building in Wuhan, capital of central China's Hubei Province, Tuesday night, the local fire department said.
Casualties from the blast that broke out at around 10 p.m. in Hanlai Square in the city's Hankou District are still unknown, the sources said.
The explosion has affected about 100 square meters of the area at the scene. Half of the 7- or 8-story building collapsed in the blast, the firefighters said.
The fire has been put out and rescue work is underway.
