It is there that Zou Shiming made his name as China's most decorated amateur boxer. And with nothing left to accomplish at that level, he is heading to the pro ranks. We get more now from Peter Koveos.

Zou Shiming has been improving his craft from master trainer Freddie Roach. A two-time Olympic Champion, Zou will make his debut in the professional world of boxing in early April.

Tuesday, Zou displayed some of the skills he has learned at Roach's Wild Card Boxing Club in Hollywood.

Zou Shiming, 2-time Olympic Champion, said, "I'm pretty good and I think I am ready for my first pro fight. I'm learning what to do inside a professional ring. But, now I am getting comfortable with the rules here and I feel ready."

Zou arrived in the U.S. in early February to prepare for the fight, with his initial workouts taking place in Las Vegas. He recently moved his training camp to Los Angeles. He's been sparring with Flyweight World Champion Brian "Hawaiian Punch" Viloria.

Zou Shiming, said, "As an amateur we just box for three rounds. As a professional, you have 12 rounds to show what you can do. This is a big challenge for me physically. I need to work on this. The most important thing about amateur and professional boxing is being skilled, and I think that I am."

Roach has been impressed and sees great potential in the Chinese boxer.

Freddie Roach, Zou Shiming's Trainer, said, "For him to come into this venue like this, with Brian Viloria being his number 1 sparring partner and Flyweight champion of the world and probably someone who he may be after some day. It's great for him and he has learned a lot. He has a lot of potential but he still makes a lot of amateur mistakes he still makes. He has a lot of bad habits but we are getting rid of them slowly. He's becoming a very good fighter."

Zou is headlining the boxing card that will take place April 6th at the Venetian Macao. The 31-year-old will fight Mexico's Eleazar Francisco Estrada.
