The Heilongjiang Honghe National Nature Reserve has set up an additional 35 artificial bird nests for oriental white storks.

To date, the reserve has set up 183 bird nests to be used as "breeding areas" for 350 pairs of oriental white stork couples.

Since 1993, a total of 183 pairs of storks have made the artificial nests their homes and have bred over 1,000 baby birds.

Located at Sanjiang plain, the Heilongjiang Honghe reserve is regarded as the main location for oriental white storks. It protects the wetland ecosystem and endangered wild animals, such as red-crowned cranes.
