A rain-triggered mudslide caused a freight train to derail in Loudi City, central China's Hunan Province, on Tuesday night, according to local railway authorities.

Three of the freight train's carriages derailed at 9:18 p.m. Tuesday, after a landslide brought debris to parts of the track, according to local railway authorities.

The accident has cut off rail traffic on the Loudi-Shaoyang section of the railway, which runs from Zhanjiang City, Fujian Province, to Luoyang City, Henan Province.

No casualties have been reported.

Railway authorities said they have dispatched teams to work on resuming traffic on the tracks.

A recent bout of heavy rain has affected most parts of Hunan Province, with showers and strong rainfall expected to continue through this week, according to local weather forecasts.
