Xinhua to build 'China Photo Industry Base' in SW China

Xinhua News Agency signed an agreement on Tuesday with southwest China's city of Chengdu to build a photo industry base.

Zhou Shuchun, vice president of Xinhua, said the base is the result of combining advantages and deepening cooperation between the city and the agency.

The base will be responsible for developing photo industry projects related to mobile Internet.

Zhou said Xinhua, as China's state news agency, has been dedicated to image communication industry by launching China Image Corporation, and more than 1,000 "Xinhua Gallery" services at home and in over 100 countries since 2011.

On Tuesday, Xinhua, the China Photographers Association and the Chengdu municipal government also agreed to jointly build a state-level museum of photography.
