WHO: H7N9 not transmitted through humans

World Health Organization spokesperson Fadela Chaib says there is so far no evidence that the H7N9 virus has been transmitted by humans in China.

China is the first country to find human carriers of the H7N9 bird flu strain. Currently, 7 people are known to have been infected in China. Of that number, 2 have died and the other 5 are in critical condition. All the 7 cases were reported in East China.

The WHO spokesperson said that due to a lack of knowledge about the new virus, it will closely cooperate with the Chinese government to ensure the deadly strain is contained.
