A celebration of excellence in TV production is taking place in the French city of Cannes. There, CCTV has presented its new collection of productions at the international audiovisual content market, or MIPTV. China's broadcasting giant is also clenching deals with foreign counterparts to produce more quality programming.
CCTV's dazzling array of work is arousing keen interest from around the world at the 50th MIPTV event in Cannes. From cultural documentaries on Peking Opera to tea ceremonies to children's programs, a variety of genres is being showcased.
Ma Runsheng, General Manager, China International TV Corp, said, "We brought with us more than 5000 hours of TV programs. They include documentaries, TV series and cartoons."
CCTV has unveiled plans to cooperate with the BBC on a documentary about Africa. Organizations in Japan and New Zealand will also help CCTV produce a documentary on the wildlife of China's Southwestern mountain ranges.
The well received series "A bite of China" is also getting a makeover.
MIPTV is the television exchange market with the highest profile in the world. The event this year attracted exhibitors from over 100 countries.
