Chinese scientists have dismissed a theory that the H7N9 virus is a genetic mix involving South Korean migratory birds.
Chinese media earlier reported that a likely source of the mutation was a virus carried by wild birds migrating from South Korea to the Yangtze Delta region. But experts at the Chinese Academy of Sciences say genetic research can confirm no link with the virus carried by birds from South Korea. The total number of confirmed H7N9 cases across China has risen to 28, including 9 deaths. No evidence has been found of human-to-human transmission.
