So as we showed you, 14-year-old Chinese golfing phenom Guan Tianlang was not out of place in his first ever Masters. The precocious youngster earned his spot in the tournament after winning the Asia Pacific Amateur last autumn, and should be a regular in Augusta for years to come.
Guan has been described as a generational talent by his instructor. The Chinese prodigy, despite his young age, is already an international champion, claiming the world junior title two years ago. He still has a long way to go before he can be described in the same sentence as Tiger Woods, but he was able to get a round in with the World Number One before the start of the tournament. Guan is seen as the future of the Chinese golf, with his success expected to help increase the popularity of the game in the Middle Kingdom, and the more wins and accolades he accumulates, the more tournaments that could also be held in China. Currently the European tour holds three events here, including the WGC HSBC Champions event. Don't be surprised to see that increase in the future.
