China's Ministry of Land and Resources has released a special map of the earthquake zone, to help rescue teams avoid high risk areas. The map gives a grading of areas prone to aftershocks.
The areas most vulnerable to quakes are highlighted in orange, yellow shading signifies medium risk while the parts in lighter colors are less prone to aftershocks. The Ministry's Emergency Research and Assessment Office says the map has been put together using geological indicators and historical data. It's advised rescuers to take great care when walking through steep terrain, and near to fallen rocks. It's also urging teams to set up relocation centers in open areas, away from slopes and hillsides.
