The international community has offered its condolences and assistance for the victims of the Lushan earthquake. China's Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it's received many offers of help from countries around the world.
The Chinese government has expressed its thanks for the support offered for its relief work. Rescue and medical teams have been deployed to the scenes of the quake and so far relief supplies are sufficient. China Red Cross, the China Charity Federation and other charitable organizations are on hand at the quake zone. Donations of money and supplies have poured in to support the victims. People in Hongkong, Macau, and Taiwan have been organizing donation events. Many private companies in China are also contributing to the donations. As transportation and communication lines are currently disrupted in the many areas of the quake zone, foreign rescue teams have not yet been called upon to join the effort on the ground.
