Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) leader Liu Yunshan on Monday met with European representatives of the 4th China-Europe High-Level Political Parties Forum, pledging to further advance ties.
Liu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said during the meeting that China and Europe are both at an important stage of their respective development and the two sides enjoy more common interests and a broader scope of cooperation.
Also as a member of the Secretariat of the CPC Central Committee, Liu believed that China and Europe should set up the concept of win-win cooperation and make breakthroughs in their relations by strengthening high-level communication and deepening pragmatic cooperation.
Noting that the China-Europe High Level Political Parties Forum has become one of the highlights in their cooperation, he voiced hope for the forum to make more positive suggestions and provide intelligence for a healthy development of relations.
During the meeting, representatives from European countries expressed their condolences over the earthquake that struck Sichuan Province in southwest China Saturday and extended hope that the people in disaster areas can rebuild their homes.
They spoke highly of efficient rescue work by the Chinese government and also said they are willing to make contributions for promoting Europe-China ties.
Wang Jiarui, vice chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference and head of the International Department of the CPC Central Committee, also attended the meeting.
