South Korean Foreign Minister Yun Byung-se will be in China on Wednesday to discuss the possibilities of a coordinated approach with Chinese leaders to defuse the tensions on the Korean Peninsula.

According to South Korean Yonhap news agency, the two countries will discuss ways to get the DPRK back to the negotiating table.

South Korean Foreign Ministry spokesman Chao Tai-Yong said that South Korea believed that China will play an important role in safeguarding peace and stability on the Korean Peninsula. He also said that the denuclearization of the DPRK is essential to lasting peace on the peninsula.

Pyongyang has intensified its war rhetoric since the UN Security Council imposed tougher sanctions on it for conducting a third nuclear test in February. The DPRK suspended operations at Kaesong industrial complex earlier this month.
