Lang Ping appointed Women's Volleyball coach

The General Administration of Sport of China announced the appointment of the head coach of Chinese National Women's Volleyball Team on Thursday. Lang Ping officially took charge as expected, and the most successful volleyball player of China will lead the team on the road to the 2016 Rio Olympics.

All eyes were on Lang, even though the appointment of the men's volleyball team was also unveiled at the press conference. Lang won the most votes in the coaching competition, and it is the second time for the volleyball legend to take the helm after guiding the Chinese team to the silver medal at the 1996 Atlanta Olympics.

Lang is once again hoping to lift China to the podium at the 2016 Rio Games. The former Chinese international is also the head coach of Guangzhou Evergrande in the Chinese Women's Volleyball League. Enjoying a large fan base in China, the woman, known as the Iron Hammer, is ready for the challenge.

Lang said, "It was not easy for me to make the decision. It's the hardest decision I've ever made. I've though about the workload the job will need. But through intense negotiation with my team and the Sports Administration, I think we can well manage the coaching work."
