Regional security has also been discussed during the trip. According to China's special envoy to the Middle East, Wu Sike, China is willing to push Israel and Palestine to take further steps toward resuming peace talks. Wu also said the current trips to China by the two leaders are part of efforts to create a better atmosphere for future negotiations.

"I think Abbas has made it clear that negotiations are the best solution and the only political choice. He has emphasized that one important factor to resuming peace talks is Israel's agreement to stop building settlements. China is willing to convey each side's ideas to the other, and hopes one day the two lines can find a convergence," China's special envoy to Middle East Wu Sike said.
