SW China landslide kills 1, 4 remain buried

One person was killed, three others injured and four remain buried after a landslide hit an expressway construction site in southwest China's Guizhou Province early Sunday, local authorities said.

The landslide happened at around 5 a.m. in Diliang village, Tianzhu County, where a makeshift dormitory for construction workers of China Railway No. 2 Engineering Group Co., Ltd was buried.

Rescuers have pulled four of eight workers who had been buried. One worker died and the three injured have been sent to a nearby hospital.

Rescue work for the other four buried people is underway.

Local authorities are investigating the cause of the landslide.
