One person was injured Monday in a seven-car pileup on the Xupu Bridge in Pudong New Area, local media reported.
The crash occurred around 7:50 am after two vehicles collided on the bridge, Shanghai Television Station reported. Five other vehicles got caught up in the accident.
The injured person was sent to the hospital with a leg injury, the Xinmin Evening News reported.
The collision was one of two traffic accidents that occurred Monday morning on the bridge, which spans the Huangpu River between Pudong and Xuhui district.
Around 8:20 am, a shuttle bus caught fire about three kilometers away from the location of the crash. Witnesses posted photos on the Internet that showed the vehicle engulfed in flames with black smoke pouring forth.
The bus's engine had caught fire, Shanghai Television Station reported.
The driver quickly evacuated the bus of its passengers. No one was injured.
An unidentified company used the bus to drive employees to and from its office.
The accidents remain under investigation.
