China's Permanent Representative to the UN has reaffirmed that political solution is the only way to address the crisis in Syria. He's highlighted that aspects of the resolution will not serve to ease the conflict in the country.

"Regard to the resolution on Syria that ... to vote on, like many other member states, China too has serious concerns on some parts of it, and requests that the sponsors taking full account the options of various sides...by the UN Secretary-General and the international community as a whole for ...the crisis," China's permanent representative to UN Li Baodong said.

Li Baodong says China is deeply worried by the worsening situation in Syria, which has led to a spiraling death toll and threatens the security and stability of the region. He's stressed that China condemns all violence against innocent civilians. He's urged the Syrian government and opposition groups to implement an immediate cease-fire, end all violence and begin a process of political transition.

The Chinese ambassador says the future of Syria should be decided by the Syrian people. China opposes military intervention in Syria and any act of forcing a government change. He's reiterated that "a political settlement is the sole viable way of defusing the crisis in Syria" and that military means will not solve the crisis but only lead to more conflict and bloodshed.
