Chinese state councilor meets Mexican FM

State Councilor Yang Jiechi met with Mexican Foreign Minister Jose Antonio Meade Kuribrena on Monday, vowing to upgrade bilateral ties.

Yang said China and Mexico are both major emerging economies and developing countries.

The two countries have witnessed rapid development in their relations and enjoyed mutually beneficial cooperation in recent years, he said.

China attaches great importance to developing relations with Mexico and is willing to work with Mexico to strengthen high-level exchanges and expand areas for cooperation, he saidr.

Meade said the Mexican government values its ties with China and is ready to work with China to promote the comprehensive and in-depth development of bilateral relations.

Meade is visiting China from May 19 to 20 at the invitation of the Foreign Ministry.
