In the Women's Doubles final, China's Li Xiaoxia and Guo Yue took on compatriots Ding Ning and Liu Shiwen for the title. The winners at the worlds at Yokohama in 2009 and Rotterdam in 2011, Guo and Li were looking to complete the hat-trick of Women's Doubles titles.
After a slow start, it was a command performance from Li and Guo. Winning four games in a row, the Chinese pair would beat their teammates to three-peat as women's doubles world champions. The feat made them one of the all-time great partnerships, matching the achievements of Wang Nan and Zhu Yuling, the only other pairing in modern times who have won the title three times.
