Israeli President Shimon Peres said Monday that China has set a model of reducing poverty and achieving rapid economic progress.
Peres made the remarks during a meeting here with Li Congjun, president of China's Xinhua News agency, who is in Israel for a visit.
Peres said China has significantly reduced poverty among its huge population and achieved rapid economic growth over the past decades through its own efforts, setting an example for underdeveloped countries in the world.
The Israeli president said Israel is willing to share agricultural technologies and strengthen cooperation with China in agriculture and other fields.
For his part, Li briefed Peres on the vision of the Chinese Dream laid out by Chinese President Xi Jinping. He said that the core of the Chinese dream is to realize national strength and prosperity, national rejuvenation as well as people's happiness.
Also present at the meeting were Chinese Ambassador to Israel Gao Yanping and Israeli Ambassador to China Matan Vilnai.
