China's State Council is holding a press conference on the opening up of and economic cooperation in Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, and also give a briefing on the 3rd China-Asia-Europe expo.
Vice Minister of Commerce Jiang Yaoping and Vice Chairman of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region will give updates on the preparation of the 3rd China-Asia-Europe expo. Xinjiang has a border of 5,600 kilometers, and is bound by 8 countries. It is an important region in China's project to develop the west, as well a significant gateway to regional economic cooperation.
This expo is expected to accelerate cooperation between China and Asian and European countries in a wide range of fields. The third expo is scheduled to be held from September 2 to 7. It was first held in 2011, attracting more than 30 countries. In its second year the number of participants increased to 55.
