Taiwan-based singer-songwriter Joanna Wang continues to dazzle audiences with her emotive and distinctive sound. Her latest studio effort "Galaxy Crisis: the Strangest Midnight Broadcast" has seen the young singer embark on a promotional tour to Beijing.
The blonde songstress enchants audiences here with her smooth and cheerful melodies. This song, entitled "You and Me" is the lead single from her video-game-inspired album, which combines geek-chic fun with 60s inspired mod vocals. Wang uses her voice and imagination to create something totally unique.
Joanna Wang said, "I grew up with some classic cartoon characters and video games. It was a lot of fun. I want to bring back this fun and excitement to the fans through music. So this album is very different. "
Daughter of famous music producer Wang Chiping, Wang was born in Taipei and raised in Los Angeles. She started composing at 14 and began performing publicly at the age of 16. Her debut album, Start From Here, reached No.1 in Taiwan in 2008 and was very popular throughout Southeast Asia. It was a significant achievement for a newcomer with an English-language release.
Galaxy Crisis: The Strangest Midnight Broadcast, Wang's latest self-written and produced studio album, comes not only with a new hairdo but also with a musical style critics are labelling "unclassifiable". It's a bold move considering the success of her previous records and whether the new offering can replicate this remains to be seen.
