Sixty-six patients have been transported to hospitals in Dehui and nearby Changchun after Monday's deadly fire at the poultry farm. CCTV reporter Zhang Nini has visited a burn unit to find out how the patients are being cared for.

"My son is able to take in some liquid food. Doctors suggest us to stay outside for fear of infection. He has so far gained conscience. "

"My brother in law just began working this February. All together three relatives have been injured in the fire, my sister and brother-in-laws."

A senior public health official briefed us on how Changchun hospitals are coping with the fire victims.

Zhao Fuyu, Deputy Director, Changchun Municipal Health Bureau, said, "Now we have 4 experts from Beijing to help us. Most of the fire victims have stable vital signs, but two or three of them are now in critical condition. We adapt the treatments according to experts' suggestions. All the patients are attended by doctors and nurses overnight. Some of patients with respiratory injuries are now intubated and on respirators. Burn patients are particularly vulnerable to infection and are receiving both treatment and sterile protection. We have to control contact to minimize the probability of infection."
