China will host the United Nations International Meeting in Support of Israeli-Palestinian Peace in Beijing, Foreign Ministry spokesman Hong Lei said Wednesday.
The meeting will to be held from June 18-19 at the request of the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People, said Hong.
Under the theme "Reviving the collective international engagement towards a two-State solution to the Israeli-Palestinian conflict," the meeting will look at possible ways for the international community to create conditions conducive to the resumption of meaningful negotiations between the parties.
China will invite governments of relevant countries, representatives of the UN and other international organizations as well as scholars and experts to attend the meeting, he said.
China has been committed to pushing forward the Middle East peace process and has always supported the Palestinian people's efforts in restoring their legitimate national rights, said the spokesman.
China hopes the meeting will raise public awareness about the Palestinian issue and revive collective international engagement regarding peaceful negotiations between the parties, he said.
China is ready to play a positive and constructive role in pushing for a comprehensive and just solution to the Palestinian issue at an early date, he said.
