Chinese version of WMO guidebook printed

On May 31, CMA printed the Chinese version of WMO Ensemble Forecasting Application Guidebook for the all Chinese forecasters to learn the ensemble forecasting products and techniques. CMA held a video conference to explain this guidebook in details and introduce the working program of the ensemble forecasting service application.

It is introduced that ensemble forecast is a major direction of development of forecasting techniques. Its products have become the mainstream reference products in American weather forecast. The ensemble forecasting products are beneficial for improving accuracy of severe weather forecast and giving confidence to forecasters.

This guidebook includes the basic knowledge, application suggestion, post-processing techniques, severe weather forecasting products and some others for the Chinese forecasters to better understand the ensemble forecasting techniques.

It is reported that in the coming 2 or 3 years, CMA will release other guidebooks about Chinese ensemble forecasting products as well as take relevant training for the forecasters.
