Over the past week President Xi Jinping has been visiting the Caribbean and Latin America before arriving in California. There has been much serious work done, but there has also been time to relax and enjoy the hospitality.
Visit to Trinidad and Tobago
President Xi Jinping and his wife Peng Liyuan arrive in Trinidad and Tobago at the start of a seven-day visit to the Caribbean and Latin America on May 31. The following day Xi met the country's prime minister, Kamla Persad-Bissessar. He also met the president, Anthony Carmona. The two countries signed agreements covering economy, trade and education. During his stay in the capital, Port of Spain, Xi met leaders from eight other Caribbean countries — the Bahamas, Barbados, Dominica, Granada, Guyana, Jamaica, Suriname, and Antigua and Barbuda. President Xi and his wife posed with leaders of Caribbean countries in Port of Spain on June 2.
