Official from China has expressed optimism the closer personal ties forged between Xi Jinping and Barack Obama during the Californian summit can stem mistrust between the two countries.
"The two sides agreed to further intensity practical cooperation in economy, trade, investment, energy and the environment as well as people-to-people, cultural and sub-national exchanges to deepen common interests across the board. The two sides agreed to enhance dialogue and cooperation on climate change and cyber security and give full play to the role of relevant working groups. Both sides emphasize the importance of improving and developing military to military relationships, and expressed the readiness to advance the building of a new model of China-US military to military relations. China will, upon invitation, participate in the realm of the Pacific exercise in 2014," Chinese State Councilor Yang Jiechi said.
