Quanzhou (CNS) -- An invitational tournament of Southern Shaolin martial arts kicked off in Quanzhou, Fujian province, on Sunday.
The tournament is one of the events marking the 2013 Southern Fujian Cultural Festival.
The three-day event attracted nearly 1,000 masters of Southern Shaolin martial arts from 17 countries and regions, including the Philippines, Malaysia, and Canada.
The tournament includes three major events: traditional Chinese boxing, traditional weapons routines, and pair events.
As the birthplace of Southern Shaolin martial arts, Quanzhou is famous for its wushu culture in the world.
