Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang starts a three-day state visit to China today. In an interview with Chinese media on Tuesday, he said the two countries "have huge potentials for further speeding up cooperation in the future.
Truong Tan Sang said, "We constantly attach great importance to the cooperation with the Communist Party of China as well as the Chinese people. To build up a comprehensive strategic partnership of cooperation with China is Vietnam's basic policy."

He said over the years, the two sides have made a lot of efforts and gained valuable experience in handling these issues.
Regarding the South China Sea, the Vietnamese president said the leaders of the two countries had reached common consensus through many sincere and frank talks. Sang also said during his visit, he expects to hold such talks with the Chinese leaders on setting forth more measures to reasonably handle their differences.
