Today is the second and final day of a UN-sponsored meeting in support of Israeli-Palestinian peace, held in Beijing.
Participants will review the main obstacles to achieving a two-State solution. They will look at the continued Israeli settlement expansion, and the latest international efforts to end such illegal practices.
The meeting will examine action by UN organs in response to violations of international law, and explore current opportunities, particularly in the wake of Palestine gaining non-Member Observer status. Participants are seeking possible ways for the international community to create conditions conducive to the resumption of meaningful negotiations. Some 15 international experts are weighing in.
