The brown bear at Kaiyang Animal Zoo in Henan province's Xinmi city killed its keeper.
Zhengzhou (CNS) -- An animal keeper was killed and partially eaten by a brown bear at a zoo in Central China on Tuesday, the local government said.
The bear keeper at Kaiyang Animal Zoo in Henan province's Xinmi city was attacked Tuesday afternoon while he was feeding a brown bear, but forgot to drive the bear into the enclosed space, the city government said.
The keeper was later found dead by emergency doctors after the bear received tranquilizer shots.
The bear was transferred to Zhengzhou Animal Zoo, and more safety measures were adopted in the living areas of the remaining dangerous animals, including one lion, one tiger and four wolves.
Kaiyang Animal Zoo, a branch of Zhengzhou Animal Zoo, opened in 2005.
