A Chinese film festival has been inaugurated in New Delhi, with the screening of Jackie Chan's latest film. The star attraction of the event has been none other than Jackie Chan himself.
When Jackie Chan walked in to inaugurate the Chinese film festival, the enthusiasm and excitement shown in India was infectious.
The Chinese Film festival in New Delhi opened to excited crowds making a start for a successful run. The film festival's inaugural film was Jackie Chan's Chinese Zodiac and Chan said he is keen to do a joint production between India and China.
He said, "For us the ordinary people, we don't really know the Indian culture, we only know through the movies. We do need some good director to do some collaboration with both the production cooperation. I hope there is an Indian director will suddenly call me and give me a good role, not just fighting, naturally I am a pretty good actor, not just fight, fight, fight, followed by claps."
The 6-day film festival will cover films from a wide spectrum including drama, romantic, comedy, action and classic films.
The Chinese film festival was met with great enthusiasm in India. The entire aim of the festival is to try and understand each others countries cultures through cinema.
The festival aims to boost bilateral movie and cultural cooperation.
The film festival inauguration also saw Indian minister of broadcasting Manish Tewari and his Chinese counterpart Cai Fuchao coming together….
Both decided to take the cultural relations to the next level by making China the guest country at next years India International Film festival….
India has also asked for greater access for Indian movies in China along with efforts for greater collaboration in films and broadcasting.
Manish Tewari, Information & Broadcasting Minister, India, said, "We share a rich history of cultural traditions in music, in dance and the arts. This strong cultural ethos is also reflected in the films of our two nations. We consider films to be a vital link which can support and substantiate the interaction between our people by giving an intimate feel."
India and China have also agreed that through cultural exchange in the field of films, exchange of personnel of public broadcasters and cooperation between Indian private film industry and the industry in China. Both the countries will be able to promote further understanding.
