As summer temperatures rise, a college student in Central China's Wuhan, Hubei Province fixed her iPad by covering the back with cucumber slices after it had overheated and shut down.
Jiang Jie, a sophomore at Hankou University explained she had tried fans, wet towels and rubbing alcohol to bring down the temperature of her iPad battery after it overheated before resorting to cucumber slices, reported Yangtze Evening Post.
According to Apple customer service, iPads stop functioning in temperatures below zero or above 45 degrees Celsius.
"I knew iPads can't be charged when it's too cold, but it turns out to be the same in the sweltering summer heat", said Jiang.
Inspired by cucumber facial masks, Jiang covered the back of her iPad with plastic wrap before spreading out a layer of frozen cucumber slices. The iPad began charging after 15 minutes, said the report.
Over the past week, temperatures in Wuhan have averaged 35 degrees, according to the National Weather Service.
