Officials with the Chongqing Technology and Business University (CTBU) announced they had already fired a teacher weeks before he openly proposed to a student on campus, ifeng. com reported.
According to reports, the teacher surnamed Tan arrived on campus on June 24 in an SUV full of roses and proposed to a college senior in front of a classroom building.
Photos soon appeared online showing the woman holding a bouquet and embracing her fiancé, with other students around them also holding roses.
After photos appeared, administrators announced that evening on CTBU's official Weibo that Tan had been let go on June 9, without elaborating as to why.
Tan began working at CTBU in January 2012.
