China's number one hope had the perfect start in her first round match on the grass. Li was facing the unseeded Michaella Kraj-icek. The pair have never met before on the court and the 6th-seed was the heavy favourite going into the match.
And the first set would be all Li Na, rarely giving her opponent a sniff of a chance, the Chinese number one breezing to a 6-1 win in the opener.
Li, who lost in the second round at the French Open, kept the exact same level up in the second, another demolition job against her Dutch opponent and another 6-1 scoreline. So the Chinese star, losing just 2 games, advances to the next round.
Meanwhile, another Chinese player also kicked off her Wimbledon campaign earlier Zheng Jie (Jung Zee-e), who has previously reached the semi-finals of the tournament, taking on Caroline Garcia. Sadly Jung lost to the French in 2 sets. 6-3, 6-4. And later today, China's 24th seed Pung Shuai will face Anabel Medina Garrigues.
Meanwhile the top seed in the women's side Serena Williams is taking on unseeded Mandy Minella from Luxembourg.
And the men's top seed Novak Djokovic will start his Wimbledon journey against Florian Mayer of Germany later tonight.
