Police in Beijing confirmed on Thursday that they have finished investigating the case of Li Tianyi, and the prosecution will soon commence, news portal chinanews.com reported.
Li, the 17-year-old son of the famous Chinese military singer Li Shuangjiang, allegedly participated in a gang rape on the night of February 17 in Beijing.
Police said the case will not be heard publicly since Li is not yet 18 years old.
Li's attorney, Xue Zhenyuan, confirmed with the Beijing Times that he had resigned from the case, but declined to explain the reason. It is not known who will represent Li.
