South China torrential rain continues

Torrential rain is continuing in most parts of southern China. China's meteorological center has issued a torrential rain alert for 6 consecutive days. Cities in the middle and lower reaches of the Yangtze River have already been hit hard by the downpour.

Weather forecasters say many more cities in the south and southwest will be affected. Downpours have badly disrupted traffic in many cities. Experts remind people to take precautions against severe weather conditions like thunder and lightning. Flash flood and landslide warnings have also been issued. The rains are expected to ease during the weekend.
