China calls for regional peace efforts

Spokeswoman for China's Foreign Ministry, Hua Chunying, has called on the Philippines to work toward maintaining regional peace after Manila's decision to revive plans to build new air and naval bases in the South China Sea.

Hua Chunying, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman, said, "China urges the Philippines and regional countries to meet one another halfway, to make joint efforts to maintain mutual trust, take positive steps towards regional peace and security and play a constructive role."
