Colombia hosts congress of Ibero-American Confucius Institutes

The 5th Congress of Confucius Institutes from the Ibero-American region kicked off at Colombia's northern city of Medellin on Wednesday.

The three-day meeting, which draws together some 150 delegates from 40 institutes in 14 countries, will allow delegates to share experiences in spreading Chinese culture and language.

The city of Medellin has seen notable growth in cooperation and connection with China, with the Medellin Confucius Institute playing an important role in spreading Chinese culture and language in the South American country.

Besides Medellin, Colombia has two other Confucius Institutes.
