A man in Chongqing swam across a flooded river to fetch hot food for his pregnant wife trapped by rising floodwater, Chongqing Evening News reported.
Yin Yong from Tongnan county in Chongqing found his house, a two-story building, surrounded by floodwaters at 2 am on Tuesday. The water was too deep for his wife, who is five-months pregnant, to escape.
The flood even inundated the kitchen, which made it impossible for Yin to cook for his wife. There was no sign that the floodwaters would recede, so Yin decided to swim across the flooded river to look for hot food for his wife.
It took Yin half an hour to swim 500 meters and reach the opposite side. He finally found some hot rice and salted vegetables in an friend's home and swam back.
Yin and his wife were saved by rescuers at 8 pm on Tuesday.
