Senior Chinese official meets Laotian security official

Senior Communist Party of China (CPC) official Meng Jianzhu met with visiting Laotian Minister of Public Security Thongbanh Sengaphone on Monday.

Meng, secretary of the Commission for Political and Legal Affairs of the CPC Central Committee, said China-Laos cooperation regarding the maintenance of security on the Mekong River has been remarkable, adding that law enforcement departments on both sides have a wide-ranging partnership.

Meng, also a member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, called on the two sides to consolidate and improve their cooperation so as to create a stable environment for regional prosperity.

State Councilor and Minister of Public Security Guo Shengkun also attended the meeting.

He said China is willing to work with Laos to push bilateral cooperation to a new level.

Thongbanh, also a member of the secretariat of the Laotian People's Revolutionary Party Central Committee, said Laos is ready to continue close cooperation with China.
