A Chinese girl hospitalized after the recent Asiana Airlines crash died Friday, raising the death toll of the accident to three.
According to a statement of San Francisco General Hospital, the girl had been under critical condition since she was hospitalized and died as a result of severe injuries inflicted during the accident.
Earlier on Friday, local coroner's office confirmed that one of the first two dead victims was hit by a firetruck, but it has yet to decide whether she died from the impact of the crash or survived the crash only to die in the chaotic aftermath.
A total of 141 Chinese were among the 291 passengers aboard the ill-fated Asiana Airlines Flight 241, which broke off its tail and burst into flames after it veered off the runway upon landing at San Francisco International Airport on Saturday morning.
More than 180 passengers were hospitalized and an updated release by the Chinese Consulate General in San Francisco said as of Thursday noon six Chinese aboard the plane were still being treated in San Francisco and nearby hospitals, with one in intensive care unit.
