Police have arrested a man surnamed Zhang suspected of stealing jade from a jeweler in Pinggu district, the Beijing News reports. The robbery occurred on June 4 when a wild storm hit the area.
Taking advantage of a power outage that disabled the jeweler's security system, Zhang broke in through a rear door and stole jade jewelry worth more than 5 million yuan ($814,665). Zhang was arrested at Beijing West Railway Station on June 19. He confessed to the robbery, as well as stealing from a pawnshop in late May.
