Paperwork from local police stations is required to buy individual containers of gasoline in South China's Guangdong Province, local authorities announced Wednesday.
Gas stations are not allowed to sell gasoline in containers to individuals, unless one can provide the registration document signed by the local bureau of public security, according to a notice jointly sent by the Guangdong Public Security Department and the Administration for Industry and Commerce.
A similar policy for buying gasoline was adopted by the Xiamen government, Fujian Province, in June after a man in the city set a bus on fire with a container of petrol which caused 47 deaths.
