At least 19 killed, 270 injured in NW China earthquake

LANZHOU, July 22 (Xinhua) -- At least 19 people have been killed and 270 others injured in an earthquake which hit a juncture region of two counties in northwest China's Gansu Province Monday morning, local authorities said.

The 6.6-magnitude quake happened at 7:45 a.m. at the junction of the Minxian County and Zhangxian County in the city of Dingxi, the Gansu Provincial Seismological Bureau said. Full story

China starts emergency-response to Gansu quake

BEIJING, July 22 (Xinhua) -- The China Earthquake Administration has initiated an emergency-response plan against the quake which hit a juncture region of two counties in northwest China's Gansu Province Monday morning.

The emergency plan includes close monitoring of the quake and sending disaster-relief teams to affected areas, the administration said. Full story

6.6-magnitude quake hits NW China

LANZHOU, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A 6.6-magnitude earthquake jolted a juncture region of two counties in northwest China's Gansu Province Monday morning.
